These workshops are for male & female teachers who have been asked to deliver technology &/or timber, but do not have training or experience and who would like instruction and guidance. Ideal for graduates to obtain extra skills and guidance and as a refresher for those who haven’t been in the workshop for a long time.

2025 – T2 Wk4, Wk8 & Wk10

Woodchix is NESA accredited for 30 hours & can be attained by attending all 5 days of this course.

Min 4, Max 8 teachers per block. Time: 9am to 4.00pm for 1 week.

Description

For male & female teachers delivering the NEW Technology syllabus &/or Timber.

Come to a workshop & learning Tech Engineering systems OR Materials Processes & Production OR the basics of teaching Timber or an Advanced Timber workshop OR just do a refresher if you haven’t been in the workshops for a few years. You’ll meet other TAS teachers & form new friendships & connections.

All teachers return to their schools confident, upskilled & knowledgeable in WHS, tools & machinery ready to teach their classes.

All teachers are invited to join the Woodchix Google Drive where you will have access to HEAPS of resources to copy and use. Saves inventing projects etc that are already in existence.

Prepare yourselves to build terrific timber projects. These teaching aids will incorporate what you need to know for your classes for a semester.

Cost includes GST glues, screws, nails, paints, finishes, sanding papers and timber just bring yourself.

Safety with hand tools and all machinery & building of confidence (e.g. Drill, compact driver, hand saws, chisels, drop saw, table saw etc)

You will be consistently reminded of all safety aspects of all the tools you will be using and shown the skills and correct techniques to develop while working on your projects.

Advice, discussion and teaching on what you will need to do to accomplish your project will be conducted by a qualified Timber teacher of 20+ years experience who has a Cert IV Training & Assessment 40116LLN & a Cert III Cabinet Making – Furniture.

WHS is adhered to, leather enclosed shoes or steel cap shoes (NO RUNNERS), hair tied back and no loose clothing is a MUST.
