Technology Mandatory Teachers’ Workshops


These workshops are for male & female teachers who have been asked to deliver Technology Mandatory – woodwork, but do not have training or experience and who would like instruction and guidance to deliver this fun subject to yr 7s & 8s. Ideal for graduates to obtain extra skills and guidance.

Woodchix is NESA accredited for 30 hours for this course. Standard descriptors 2.1.2, 1.5.2, 2.5.2, 3.2.2, 3.5.2 can be attained by attending all 5 days of the course.

Min4, Max 8 teachers per block. Time: 9am to 4.00pm for 1 week.

This workshop is specifically designed to teach teachers materials and production processes within the timber workshop. This will provide students with opportunities to develop their technological literacy through the design and production of creative solutions. Teachers will undertake practical learning and project work during the 5 day workshop.
Four projects will be made (2 for yr7 & 2 for yr8) providing opportunities for teachers to develop skills, techniques & knowledge to deliver Technology Mandatory – woodwork.

In your 5 days of classes, you will be going through and following the instructions for stage 4 till you are sure & confident of the delivering the project content.

All attendees will be invited to join the Woodchix Google Drive where you will have access to HEAPS of resources. In there, you will find some programs with outcomes & registers, assessments, and handouts + more.

Prepare yourselves to build the projects. These projects will incorporate all you need to know for the classes for a semester.

Cost includes GST glues, screws, nails, paints, finishes, sanding papers and timber just bring yourself.

Safety with hand tools and all machinery & building of confidence (e.g. Drill, compact driver, hand saws, chisels, drop saw, table saw etc)

You will be consistently taught & reminded of all safety aspects of all the tools you will be using and shown the skills and correct techniques to develop while working on your projects.

Advice, discussion and teaching on what you will need to do to accomplish your project will be

conducted by a qualified Timber teacher of 20+ years experience and a Cert IV Training & Assessment 40116LLN.

WHS is adhered to, leather enclosed shoes or steel cap shoes (NO RUNNERS), hair tied back and no loose clothing is a MUST.
